If gambling has stopped feeling like entertainment, this page exists to help. Redracerbet offers deposit limits, session timers, self-exclusion and account closure, and Australia provides free, confidential support through the National Gambling Helpline and the BetStop national register.
Why responsible gambling matters
Gambling is a form of paid entertainment. Most people set a budget, play within it, and stop when the session ends. For a smaller group it becomes a problem — one that costs more than money.
The industry calls this responsible gambling; clinicians call it harm minimisation. The term matters less than the fact: when play interferes with work, relationships or finances, it has crossed a line, and catching it early is easier than unwinding it later.
Signs gambling is getting out of hand
These behaviours, taken together, are warning signs:
- Spending more than you planned, or more than you can afford to lose.
- Chasing losses — depositing again to win back what you just lost.
- Lying to family or friends about how much you've spent or how often you play.
- Borrowing money to gamble, or gambling with money set aside for bills.
- Feeling anxious, irritable or restless when you can't play.
- Neglecting work, study or family commitments because of gambling.
No single behaviour confirms a problem, but a pattern of several is a reason to seek help rather than wait.
Questions worth asking yourself
These six questions are drawn from clinical screening tools. Answer honestly — nobody else sees the answers:
- Have you bet more than you could afford to lose?
- Have you needed to bet larger amounts to get the same feeling of excitement?
- Have you gone back another day to try to win back money you lost?
- Have you borrowed money or sold anything to get money to gamble?
- Have you felt that you might have a problem with gambling?
- Has gambling caused you any health problems, including stress or anxiety?
Two or more yes answers suggest the pattern is worth discussing with a professional. The National Gambling Helpline, listed below, is free and confidential.
Control tools we offer
We provide several account-level controls. Each is set through your account's responsible gambling settings, and once applied it cannot be loosened until the chosen period expires.
Deposit limits
Set a maximum you can deposit in a day, week or month. The limit resets at the end of its period. A request to increase it takes 24 hours to process, giving you time to reconsider; a request to lower it applies immediately.
Session reminders and time limits
A reality check appears at intervals you choose — every 30 minutes, every hour — showing how long you've been playing and how much you've won or lost in that session. A hard time limit logs you out automatically when the session reaches your chosen duration.
Time-outs
Close access to your account for 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. You cannot log in, deposit or play during a time-out, but the account remains open and any balance stays available once the period ends.
Self-exclusion
Close your account for a minimum of six months or permanently. Self-exclusion is not reversible before the chosen period ends. Any remaining balance is returned before the closure takes effect. To self-exclude, contact our support team at [email protected] with your request, or use the account closure option in your settings.
Practical limits that work
These six habits, used together, keep play within the entertainment category:
- Set a loss limit before you start — the amount you can afford to lose that session — and stop when you reach it, whether you've won in between or not.
- Never chase losses. The win that recovers a loss is less likely than the loss that doubles it.
- Treat any deposit as spent. A win is a bonus; expecting one turns entertainment into an investment, which gambling is not.
- Take regular breaks. A session that runs past two hours without a pause is long enough to blur judgement.
- Don't gamble when you're upset, anxious or under the influence. Decisions made in that state cost more than they would otherwise.
- Keep gambling separate from other activities — no play while working, studying or spending time with family.

Blocking software
Gamban and BetBlocker are third-party applications that block access to gambling sites across all your devices. Both offer free and paid versions. Gamban covers desktop and mobile; BetBlocker is free and open-source. Neither is controlled by us, so installing one prevents you from reaching our site along with others.
Protecting minors
Our site is restricted to adults. You must be 18 or older to register, deposit or play. If you share a device with children or teenagers, consider enabling parental controls through your operating system or router — both Windows and macOS offer built-in content filters, and most home routers allow site blocking by category.
If a minor has accessed your account, close it immediately by contacting [email protected], and seek advice from one of the help services listed above.
Our role and our limits
We can point you to the tools and services listed on this page. We cannot process a self-exclusion request made to a different operator, resolve an account or withdrawal that belongs to another site, or provide clinical advice. For account questions — limits, closures, verification — contact our support team at [email protected]. For help with problem gambling, contact the National Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858 or visit BetStop at betstop.gov.au.
Gambling should remain entertainment, not a cost you can't afford or a habit that takes over other parts of your life. The resources above exist because asking for help is not a failure — it's the practical step that prevents a manageable problem from becoming an unmanageable one.
